The latest version of the firmware (V2.11) has a change that affects the 
ability to read the device with the windows program.  The device will only 
respond to commands for a short window after powerup.  

In order to read the device, you must issue a "read" command during this 
short window.  

The device will IGNORE read commands after this window expires.

1) Plug the USB adapter into the PC
2) Start the windows software and select the proper COM port.
3) Apply power to the device (start counting)
4) Plug the 5-pin white connectors together to connect the device to 
   the USB adapter
5) Wait 6 seconds after step 3 (but not more than 10)
6) Click the "READ" button.
